First Look SoCal 2023 Keynote: Unlocking USC Michelson Center’s Convergence Innovation

“What we’ve been involved in is the first purpose-built convergence Science Center. Many of us have talked about convergent science and interdisciplinary science, and as Gary has mentioned, we’ve been very good at building silos and separating things into little individual pegs and boxes. The goal of our Center is to really break free from that and to really start bringing together the different disciplines.”

– Dr. Scott Fraser, Elizabeth Garrett Chair in Convergent Bioscience & Director of Science Initiatives at USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience

Dr. Gary K. Michelson, founder and Co-Chair of Michelson Philanthropies, delivered opening remarks at the Alliance for SoCal’s 2023 First Look Innovation Conference keynote panel on June 14th to recognize the achievements in convergence innovation.

The discussion highlighted the first-of-its-kind collaborative scientific research that has led to groundbreaking breakthroughs at the USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience.
