Kai Kupferschmidt Awarded 2026 Victor Cohn Prize for Excellence in Medical Science Reporting
Kai Kupferschmidt, a contributing correspondent for Science magazine, has been named the 2026 winner of the Victor Cohn Prize for Excellence in Medical Science Reporting. Awarded annually by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, the prize recognizes outstanding medical science reporting published or broadcast within the past five years. Judges praised Kupferschmidt’s influential coverage of infectious diseases, global health, and misinformation, including reporting on bird flu, COVID-19, Ebola, HIV, malaria, and mpox. The prize is underwritten by Michelson Philanthropies and includes a $5,000 cash award.
