ePanel On Demand: Breakthrough Discoveries in Human Immunology

Michelson Philanthropies and AAAS/Science Magazine partnered with Keystone Symposia to recognize and celebrate the remarkable achievements of Dr. Joshua Tan (Finalist), Dr. Roser Vento-Tormo (Finalist), and Dr. Aleksandar Obradovic (Grand Prize), the recipients of the 2023 Michelson Philanthropies & Science Prize for Immunology.

The event started with opening remarks from Dr. Gary Michelson, co-chair and founder of Michelson Philanthropies and Michelson Medical Research Foundation. He was followed by U.S. Representative Mike Levin and speakers from Science, including Editor-in-Chief Holden Thorpe, Publisher Bill Moran, and Senior Editor Seth Scanlon.

The ceremony showcased the winners' groundbreaking work with presentations of their innovative research on the following topics:

  • Searching for Common Ground: Cell atlases of human tolerogenic milieus guide transformative immunotherapies (Dr. Tan)

  • Decoding Foreign Antigen Tolerance: Cell atlases of human tolerogenic milieus guide transformative immunotherapies (Dr. Vento-Tormo)

  • Precision Immunotherapy: A Mechanistic Approach to Overcoming Treatment Resistance (Dr. Obradovic)

Applications for the 2024 Michelson Philanthropies & Science Prize will open on May 1, 2023, providing a unique opportunity for early-career investigators’ research to be recognized and celebrated.
